Directorate of Anti Corruption Branch, West Bengal, set-up under the administrative control of Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department (P&AR), Government of West Bengal, is a specialized investigating agency that enquires / investigates offences of corruption under Prevention of Corruption Act alleged to be committed by public servants working under the administrative control of Government of West Bengal.

Anti Corruption Branch was established vide G.O No. 655-P&AR (Vig.) dated 2^nd August, 2012. Thereafter, it was elevated as Directorate of Anti Corruption Branch, West Bengal.

Anti Corruption Branch, Police Station under Directorate of Anti Corruption Branch was created by the Home (Police) Department, Government of West Bengal vide notification no. 2208 P.S. Cell Dated November 14, 2012, only for the purposes of registration and investigation of the offences relating to Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The jurisdiction of Anti Corruption Branch Police Station is throughout the State of West Bengal.

The Directorate of Anti Corruption Branch, West Bengal deals with the cases related to demand & acceptances of bribe, abuse of official position by the Public Servant and the cases related to acquisition of disproportionate assets by a Public Servant and also other cases that come under the purview of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Directorate Anti Corruption Branch, West Bengal enquires and investigate offences under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 alleged to be committed by the public servants functioning under the administrative control of Government of West Bengal.

Any informant/complainant may lodge written petition giving details of corruption practices of a corrupt public servant personally at the office of Directorate of ACB, West Bengal at 9^th Floor, ‘A’ Wing, New Secretariat Building, No. 1, Kiran Sankar Roy Road, Kolkata- 700001 if he wishes. He can also send his petition by post / e-mail.

The complaint should include:

• Name, designation, and officer of the public servant involved.
• Clear details of the incident, date, time, and place.
• Evidence or witnesses (if any).
• Contact details of the complainant.

Presiding Officer of the Court of Judge, Bench-II, City Session court, Calcutta, is the Special Judge for trial of cases or group of cases under the under the Prevention of Corruption Act which are investigated into by the Anti Corruption Branch Police Station, having its jurisdiction throughout the West Bengal.

The police officers in the rank of Inspector of Police attached to the Anti Corruption Branch Police Station, West Bengal is authorized by the State Government to investigate offences under the said Act, in addition to Deputy Superintendent of Police or Police Officer of equivalent rank as required under the Act.

Bribe giver is also an offender under Prevention of Corruption Act like bribe taker public servants except the circumstances as provided in section 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Anti Corruption Branch Police Station under Directorate of ACB, WB enquires / investigates offences of corruption against the public servants, under Prevention of Corruption Act, IPC/ BNS and it follows the statutory procedures as laid down in Cr.PC / BNSS/ Prevention of Corruption Act and also guidelines issued/ orders passed by Hon’ble Courts from time to time. It also follows various notification/orders/ guidelines issued from administrative Department.
